Don’t  let muscle or joint pain stop you from doing the things you Enjoy!

Find out the causes of your pain and get  treatments so you can stay on top your game.

Acute pain left untreated will invariably result in long term chronic pain and no matter your age, or activity level, constant body ache can be a very harrowing experience. As someone who regularly participates in sport I am familiar with a variety of injuries, joint aches and muscle pains so as a personal trainer it frustrates me when clients regularly avoid professional help even though they are suffering with a sore back, acute foot pain or a shoulder injury. Despite my advice, they put off seeking treatment until the pain becomes totally debilitating . Pain is the body’s way of letting you know that something is wrong and can appear suddenly or build slowly over time, ranging from mild and intermittent to severe and persistent.

From experience I have learnt that treating an injury quickly can improve and rapidly speed up recovery. I therefore work with three excellent specialists in the Maidenhead area who I see on a regular basis who not only keep me on top of my game but also help lots of my clients get over their injuries and ensure they are pain free so they can continue with their sports and exercise programmes.

Read about them below and give them a call if you have a niggling injury that you want to sort out. Don’t leave it until it becomes A CHRONIC long term pain in the bum!

Chris Ball

Chris is a Neurofascial Release and movement  specialist. As an ex gymnast and GB cyclist, Chris has been involved in sport all his life and has worked with numerous elite athletes. As well as clinics in London and Salisbury, Chris holds a private clinic in Knowl Hill every Friday. He has helped many of my clients with nerve pain, sciatica, back problems and dysfunctional movement.

A Neurofascial approach is any method of bodywork aimed at the interface of the nervous system and related tissues. The neurofascia is a connected system of nerves and fasciae that traverses the whole body.  Using a dynamic interplay of mechanics and signaling, the neurofascia coordinates our movement, fluid dynamics, and inflammatory response.  The disruption of these functions is a core factor in chronic pain, motion restriction, and nerve entrapment. His aim is to analyse your movement patterns and suggest exercises you should avoid as well as those you should do more of to improve your condition. He will also practice neurofascial release in the affected area.

Annie Dorward

As well as being a personal trainer, yoga teacher and nutritional therapist, Annie is a qualified  sports massage therapist. She also uses Hot Stone massage techniques, as this is extremely beneficial in aiding healing in clients with sports related injuries.

A Sports massage is ideal to treat injuries and as well as a preventative treatment dealing with the health of muscle and connective tissue, range of movement, tone, symmetry, balance of muscle and quality of posture. Its the  manipulation of soft tissue to release tension, reduce pain, restore range of movement and promote good condition. Sports massage works deep into the muscles, realigning the muscle fibres and connective tissue, flushing away the toxins. Regular sessions will increase joint mobility and flexibility, and reduce the risk of injury during exercise.

To assist in sports massage therapy, I have incorporated hot stone therapy which is a technique that compliments my practice. Hot stone massage started back over 3000 years ago in ancient India and China and as a therapist  today it allows me to work more efficiently for longer periods of time, eliminating hyeprflexion and hypertension of my wrists.

The benefits include increased local circulation, improved blood flow to surrounding tissues and greater ability to transport toxins and waste products from the area.  The stones also help to energise and balance the body as well as ease muscle stiffness and increases metabolism. The stones also promote deeper muscle relaxation when placed at key points of the body and can improve blood circulation as well as recharge energy levels.
